Mix Up Dining Spaces

Dear Sandy,

I realize that Thanksgiving will be here before I turn around, and it takes time to get things done, so I am an early bird with my question.

My dining room is spacious and I really love my classic campaign style dining table but I want to update/refresh my room with exciting new chairs. I favor soft tones of cream, whites and blues, but I’m willing to go more dramatic with these chairs. I also have a nice collection of blue and white ginger jars on display in this room.

I have seen your work and I can’t wait for you to help me and I can also say “Sandy Sutton designed this room!”

Nora

Hello Nora the Early Bird,

Thank you for your questions, and it is not too early at all.

So you are fortunate to have a large space and a classic campaign dining table (one of my favorites). This style offers clean lines and it is easy for us to mix in other styles to really glam it up.

I am crazy about this sapphire blue buttoned-up chair. It is just the opposite of the straight lines in the table and you know they say that opposites attract!

This punch of color and serpentine curves in the back and in the legs create a perfect vintage midcentury look. It will certainly refresh and update your dining room.

The sapphire fabric will enhance all your blue and white pieces and I know your guests will feel they are dining in Old Hollywood. Dim the lights and light the candles — it’s showtime!

I want to try your recipe for liver pate’. I cut it out and have misplaced it. I am hoping you will email me your recipe.
    Thank you!
